And therefore I'm regularly to be found on flea markets on weekends, always hoping to find nice and completely unnecessary but cool bargains. My dear husband just raises an eyebrow and resignedly carries back home all of my finds ...
Last weekend was especially successful - just 1,5 hours and Euro 12,50 for a vase, an ufo and six bananas... What looks like an UFO turned out to be a so called "table sun" (or face tanner/ sunlamp). Well, I wouldn't want to try it out, but it looks soooooo cool!

Six bananas is what I call this wardrobe. I love the combination of black and yellow!

And of course some other things will end up in my 50ies room, such as this fantastic kitchen cabinet which I bought in summer (when we didn't even know yet that we'd buy a huge old house - must have been destiny) and is hidden away in the cellar at the moment due to shortage of space:

And these three chairs, all found at different flea markets, the pair of twins even being Thonet chairs:

And some decoration:
I'm sure you agree with me: My 50ies room is going to be cool!!

Great, now I have someone to send all my unwanted 50s fugly knick knacks to! Would you be interested in some green marbled plastic wall tiles when I tap the bathroom wall and they all fall off? I'll bet they would look great in that room!
That is so fun that you are doing a 50s room. Cool finds! We have one modern piece of furniture that I adore - Our Saarinen table that you can see here: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g174/PocoToasty/Kitchen/105_0570.jpg
I have trouble figuring out what goes along with it. I need to get some new chairs because those old IKEA chairs are getting quite rickety.
@Gary: Well, those tiles sound ... SCARY ... although, maybe, let me think of it, a green wall ...
@dulcie: I love that table - has it always been in your family or did you buy it?
