Another find - what could it be?

When exposing the foundation wall of our house, we discovered yet another "thing". My readers helped me last time to find out that the first object we found was an eyetooth of a large dog. Thanks Jonathan!

Therefore I try it again, hoping someone will come up with a great idea. That's the corpus delicti:





The material is definitely clay, the whole thing is about 5 cm long. There is a tiny hole in the middle, probably running through the whole of it.

What could it be? An old weight? Some kind of container?

Gosh, I'm stumped again. And after looking back at that tooth you found and looking at my hound's teeth, I can't believe that ever came from a dog!

Maybe a piece of knob-and-tube wiring? This would be the ceramic bit that they thread the wire through....
